Take Your Kid to Publishing Day 2025 Children's Stories!
During the first ever Take Your Kid to Publishing Day (an annual summer children's publishing event based on Danielle Render Turmaud's picture book TAKE YOUR DAUGHTER TO WORK DAY--see more here), children had the opportunity to write short stories with authors, agents, and editors. And they came up with brilliant and adorable stories! Some of the children decided to "publish" their stories so that they could share them with the world. Their stories can be found below!
Rainbow World

Once upon a time, there was an Emoji named Smiley. They lived in the land of Emojis where they liked to dance to hip hop. But, Smiley had a problem ... Emoji land had vanished! So, Smiley jumped into the portal to save Emoji land! Through the portal, Smiley found that the owner of the phone that held Emoji land had been having phone troubles, so they DELETED emoji land! So Smiley found a second portal, where they found someone to help save Emoji land. But, in order to help Smiley, Smiley had to promise to help save the new friends land. They jumped BACK through the portal, fighting through the portal monsters, and then through the portal of dancing. This was perfect, because Smiley LOVED dancing. But there was no time! The new friend said that if they didn’t hurry, the portals would vanish! They needed to hurry, because Smiley was starting to vanish! Smiley touched the dance floor, and as soon as they did
Smiley felt better! They jumped through the portal of strawberries, flowers, and summer.

By Barclay Nielsen
Once upon a time there was a boy named Barclay. He lived in the land of Florida where he liked to go on vacation. But Barclay had a problem when he went to Vancouver, Canada. After the plane landed, the pilot said evacuate. One of the engines had caught on fire. So Barclay was scared. But he got out of the plane safely.
The End

A HUGE high five to our 2025 kid authors! Your stories (those listed here and those that aren't) blew us away! Keep writing, keep reading, and keep imagining!
